I am a computer geek at heart, but when I'm not at work, I spend most of my time with my wonderful wife, Uli.

I worked for seven months from September 1995 to March 1996 at a little startup company called Dresden.com. I developed custom software mainly in a Web environment with CGI using C on a Linux system. Developed interactive Web sites for businesses, and worked on creating an easily customizable, on-line catalogue ordering system. Also used Delphi moderately. Unfortunately about a year and a half after I left, the company went out of business. I thought they were probably going places. Oh well.
Before March, 1998, I worked with Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) where I did client-server software development dealing heavily with databases. I have worked as a co-op and part-time student from September 1992 through March 1998. I worked with Lotus 1-2-3 3.1+ for Dos as a application development front end for Oracle until we converted everything to PowerBuilder. I gained a lot of experience not only in client-server software development and Oracle, but also in writing project management software.
I also am a devout Christian. I am an active member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. I currently attend the Career Sunday morning Bible Study class.
I firmly believe that our tax system in the United States is out of control. After doing some research and thinking on the topic, I believe that a flat rate income tax with a high standard deduction (relative to the current standard deduction) is the way to go and should be implemented without delay. The two key aspects that should be adhered to in any tax system are, first everyone should be taxed fairly. Except for the standard deduction, all income is taxed at the same flat rate. This means that someone who makes more money will pay higher taxes (but proportionally the same rate). Second, it should be simple. As a college graduate, I should not have difficulty filling out my tax forms every year. The form should be no more than half a page in length. Our current system is so complex that even tax professionals cannot agree on the best way to fill out tax forms for a typical family. This is unacceptable and must be corrected immediately.
